Donald L. "Rusty" Rasmussen

APACHE JUNCTION - Donald L. "Rusty" Rasmussen passed away on Jan. 16, 2013. He was born on Sept. 21, 1931 in Princeton, Idaho and has resided in Ariz. since 1956. Rusty joined the Air Force in 1950 and served in the Far East most of his 22 years of service. He was a veteran of the Korean and Viet Nam Wars earning both the Master Crew Chief Award and the Bronze Star during his service. While at Davis-Monthan in Tucson he started the Aero Club and spent lots of time teaching people to fly light aircraft. Upon retiring from the military he worked for Sears Automotive for 14 years before finally retiring in 1986. Rusty was a member of the Desert Kustoms Car Club as well as the Senior Rodders Club and very active in both. Rusty will be missed by his wife, "B"; daughter, Kim Neil; son, David Rasmussen; grandson, Scott McKinnon (Erin); granddaughter, Taryn; step children, Lori McKnight and Buddy Owens; two great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews; and two older brothers and their families. A celebration of life will be held Fri. Jan. 25, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Superstition Funeral Home, 398 E. Old West Highway, Apache Junction, AZ. (480) 982-2727.
