Dr. Carol Jennine Marie Jones, 1932-2018.
Dr. Carol J. Jones, 86, of Scottsdale, AZ, passed away on August 1, 2018, at the Mayo Hospital in Scottsdale, AZ. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 11th at 10:00 A.M. at Camino Del Sol Funeral Home in Sun City West, AZ. She will be laid to rest at Sunland Cemetery in Sun City.
Carol was born in Green Bay, WI on June 8, 1932, to parents Rev. John Peter and Reidun Dragseth, of North Dakota. She grew up in a pastoral home in Grenora, Ryder, and Minot, ND.
In 1953, Carol married Flernoy Jones, her husband of 65 years. Carol received a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Arkansas in 1961 before teaching in Portageville, MO public schools.
In 1965, she earned her doctoral degree in Education from Mississippi State University and returned to the Portageville, MO public schools as a teacher. In 1972, she began work as a professor of Counseling. Carol moved to Columbia, MO where she completed her career as a Professor of Counseling and Guidance at Northeast Missouri State University, Kirksville, MO in 1996.
Carol is survived by her sons, Steven and Gregory Jones, and her daughter, Stephanie Franquinha. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Carol was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church and she not only worshiped at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Scottsdale, AZ, but also faithfully attended services organized by Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church at her Brookdale home.
