Oliver D. Williams, 89, died quietly at his home in Middleton, WI on August 26, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marilyn (Mickey); his parents, Robert O. & Gertie M. Williams; his brothers, Griffith and Kenneth; his brothers-in-law: Martin, Albin, Jack & Arnold; and his sister-in-law, Mardell Williams.
He is survived by four sisters: Gertrude Ziebell, Beulah Dickson, Marjorie Voruda & Esther Williams; one sister-in-law, June Bjorklund; four children: Clifford (Colleen), Gail (Robert) Schmiedlin, Glen (Lynne), and James; 7 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Oliver was a graduate of Wild Rose High School and the University of Wisconsin journalism school. He served in the Army. After his university graduation he worked as a reporter at the Waushara Argus and as managing editor of the Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune before ending his career at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
After his retirement, Oliver and Marilyn spent their winters in Sun City, AZ, which allowed Oliver to enjoy his passion for golf year round.
A memorial service for Oliver will be held on October 15, 2017 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, Madison, WI at 2:00 P.M. with visitation for one hour prior to the service.
