Phyllis Caroline Erickson passed away peacefully on Dec. 12, 2016 at Silverado Memory Care in Peoria. Born Jan. 9th in Chicago, Ill., to Lawrence and Jessie Jensen (nee Liby). Phyllis grew up in Elmwood Park, Ill., and graduated from Elmwood Park High School. In 1956 Phyllis married Dick Erickson. Phyllis and Dick had been sweethearts since junior high school, where they would sit on the fire escape and talk about their dreams and plans for their futures. Phyllis loved to sew, having always dreamed of being a dress designer. She designed much of her own wardrobe, creating the patterns she would use to make many of her own stylish outfits. Always impeccably dressed, she was well known for her fashionable, elegant look. Her other passions were golf, card playing and her granddaughters. She played in ladies' golf groups at Phoenix, Briarwood and Palmbrook Country Clubs and was honored to serve as President of the Women's Golf Association when the opportunity was offered. She loved playing "team play" and "guest days" with her club friends visiting other area golf clubs to play in competitive tournaments. After golf were fun lunches with her friends followed by Bridge or Hand and Foot card games. She loved spending time with her granddaughters taking every opportunity to attend softball games, dance shows and recitals along with special afternoons for lunches and movies together. Phyllis is survived by her son, Guy and his wife, Jill (Rylands); daughter, Debi; four granddaughters, Heidi, Dana, Carly, Holli Obrien and her husband, Dan and their son, Riley, Phyllis' great-grandson. Spiritual services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Lakeview United Methodist Church located at 10928 W. Thunderbird, Sun City, AZ 85351. A Celebration of Life gathering will be at 3 p.m. following the services at Palmbrook Country Club, 9350 W. Greenway Road, Sun City, AZ 85351.

Please accept my condolences. The Bible offers much comfort, such as at Jeremiah 29:11, 'For I well know the thoughts that I am thinking toward you,' declares God, thoughts of peace, and not of calamity, to give you a future and a hope.'
How comforting to know God thinks about us in a peaceful way and has a future planned for us.
