Jean Handler Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 2, 2010.
Jean 'Shannon' Handler In Memory of Jean "Shannon: Handler, who went to meet our Lord on June 25, 2010. It was her wish to leave us while sleeping, and this came true. She is now free of pain and long suffering and is in a better place now. All of her 82 years she had many friends and was very proud to have met the best of them all here in Sun City West. She was a strong, dear lady with a heart of gold with a smile to match. At 16 years, she left school to become a "star" in show business. She was a chorus girl. A "Shannon Sister" with her sister, Norma, a trio for several years and a stand-up comic until she retired in 1978...Became a "star"! In 1990 she joined Norma, brought her ill husband to SCW, who passed in 1991, after which she and her sister went back to singing...then started to act with the Mayflower Players and Theatre West. She was happiest when playing Mammy Yokum in the "Li'l Abner"...Just loved it!!! A memorial to celebrate her life will be held at Crown of Life Lutheran Church on July 8, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. Hope to see you there.

Norma,

I was so sorry to read about your sister, Shannon, in the Daily News Sun. I am even sorrier that I didn't see it until today. I would have loved to have been at her service.

Love you and hope to see you at church soon.

Love,

Clarine Clampitt
