CAMDEN - Clair Daniel "Dan" Buckley passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 in Kent General Hospital, Dover, following a 3 year illness. He was 74. Known as "Dan" by family and friends, he was born in Worth Township, Mercer Co., Pa. on May 29, 1938 to Ralph Daniel and Helen Louise Jamison Buckley. Dan married Sarah "Sally" L. Kerr on Feb. 15, 1958. They recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. Dan enlisted in the US Air Force
in 1955 becoming a career military man serving until his retirement, from Dover Air Force Base, in 1976. Dan served as an aircraft mechanic and later became a flight engineer on C141 and C5 airplanes. He was also a flight examiner and flight simulator instructor. Dan was a Vietnam veteran
and served two tours in the Philippines. Following his service retirement he was an industrial electrical engineer. He then worked as a rural mail carrier for the US Postal Service in Grove City, Pa. for 15 years. Dan enjoyed playing cards and games with his family, photography, fishing, and traveling in his RV. Dan and Sally attend Wesley United Methodist Church in Dover. Dan was a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association, Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge

Dan is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sally at home; five children, Kelly Devine and husband Tom, of Dover, Dana Buford and husband Mark, of Bakersfield, Calif., Kim Yurchison and husband Tom, of Dillsburg, Pa., Daniel W. Buckley and fiancée Donna Kimble, of Dover, and Brenda Shaffer and husband Mark, of Franktown, Va.; eight grandchildren, Denise and Melissa Devine, Sean Simmons and wife LeighAnn, Steven Yurchison, Brett and Stephanie Buckley, Nicholas and Justin Shaffer; one great-granddaughter, Illa Jane Simmons; and one sister, Patricia Wilson and husband Jim, of Northport Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one grandson, Michael T. Devine. Funeral Services with full military honors were held in his hometown of Grove City, Pa., on March 18, 2013.
