Frank E. Collins

HARRINGTON - Frank E. Collins passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012 at Bayhealth- Kent General Hospital. He was the son of Robert and Elizabeth Collins of Harrington. Frank Collins served his country proudly in the United States Army, and also served in Vietnam. Upon his discharge in 1968, he went to work for the United States Postal Service. After 37 years with the USPS, he retired in 2004. Frank also delivered newspapers for the News Journal for 35 years in the wee hours before going to work at the post office. He would remember where each person wanted their paper and he could throw the paper to the exact location. Each summer he would also mow lawns with his sons. Frank served his Lord first, family second, and entire neighborhood next. Whether it was delivering mail, newspapers each morning, mowing your lawn, or receiving vegetables from his garden, Frank touched many lives. Frank married his high school sweetheart, Linda. She graduated in June, and they were married in September. Frank was always the love of her life and they always did everything together. His grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life, and gave him great delight. Frank was always a people person. He was very giving, and loved to serve people which translated to every aspect of his life, from his family, friends, church family, even strangers. He followed the teaching of Jesus, treated everybody the same, loved everyone as an equal brother and sister, and always helped others in need. He was a very practical person who could do anything he set his heart to. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and a role model that we could all emulate. Frank was a associate lifetime member of the Harrington Fire Company. He was also a member of the Ruritan Club, and an active member of the Harrington Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and a trustee. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Linda Collins of Harrington; sons, Rodney Collins of Harrington, Chad Collins of Greenwood Lake, N.Y., Christopher Collins of Camden-Wyoming; brothers, Robert Collins, Kenneth "Snookie" Collins, George Collins, Dickie Collins, and Bruce Collins all of Harrington; sister, Thelma Gustafson of Harrington; brother in laws, Donald Rogers of Warrington, Pa., Erwin Rogers of Harrington, Dennis Rogers of Milford; and eight grandchildren.
