James Angelo "Tony" Williams

Williams, 80 DOVER - On Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, James Angelo Williams (aka Tony) of Farmville, N.C. died at the age of 80. He suffered a stroke in May of this year and never fully recovered. He was a beloved husband of Gloria Johnson Williams; also a devoted father of nine children, Ruby (Dover), Sharron(Ohio) Michael Angelo(Dover), Charles aka Tony Jr. (Texas), Darrell (deceased), Donna (Harrington), Shawn (deceased), Mike Young (S.C.), and Danielle (Dover). Tony proudly served in the United States Air Force for 22 years; he was also a Vietnam Veteran. When he retired he made Dover his home. He worked several jobs after he retired from the Air Force, eventually retiring from General Foods as well. From fishing, hunting to cooking up a storm, Tony had a wide array of interest and aimed to make the most of his life. He could cheer up a crowd and make anyone feel at home. He is survived by his cherished wife and counterpart, Gloria Johnson Williams; his ex-wife, Ella Mae Williams; two aunts, Lila Dell (N.C.) and Frances Alvarev (Pa); two sisters, Margie Holly (Chicago) and Vernell Land (N.Y); seven of his children, Ruby, Sharron, Michael Angelo, Tony Jr., Donna, Mike and Danielle; 18 grandchildren; and 18 great-grands; many nieces, nephews, cousins and an army of friends. Friends and family will be received today, Dec. 14, 2012 at Bennie Smith Funeral Home located at 717 West Division Street, Dover, Delaware, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Home going services will be held at Crossroad Christian Church, 4867 North DuPont Hwy, Dover, Delaware on Dec. 15, 2012. Visitation 10 to 11a.m. Service at 11 a.m.
