James Earheart Jackson III

Jackson III, 80 MILFORD - James Earheart Jackson III died Fri., Mar. 29, 2013 at home. Jim was born on Nov. 22, 1932 in Philadelphia, Pa. the son of the late James and Imelda (D'Amelio) Jackson. He attended Milford High School and graduated from Randolph-Macon Academy. He served with the Delaware State Police during the 1950's and 1960's until his retirement at the rank of Lieutenant. He then worked at PNC Bank in the Fraud Investigations Unit until his retirement. Jim was a basketball coach with the Police Athletic League and served with the Coast Guard Reserve. He enjoyed working on cars and following his favorite football team, The Chicago Bears. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Porter; and his first wife, Irene (Davidson). He is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons, James (Cindy) and Dale; daughters, Susan and Carol; a granddaughter, Sarah; a stepson, David Ryan; and his German Shepherd, Cruiser. The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Perez, Dr. Wilson and Seasons Hospice for their care and compassion and the Delaware State Police for providing their support and an Honor Guard for Jim's services. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wed., Apr. 3, 2013 at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford where friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery, Rt. 113, Milford. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to either Kent County S.P.C.A., 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934 or to Whimsical Animal Rescue, 10997 Concord Rd, Seaford, DE 19973.
