Raymond Edgar Nutt

MARYDEL- Raymond Edgar Nutt, Jr., passed away Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Marydel, Del., on Feb. 13, 1937, son of the late Raymond E. Sr., and Elsie Mae Nutt. Mr. Nutt attended Dover High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps. He worked for several construction companies prior to retiring from the Maintenance Shop at Delaware State University. He enjoyed working in his wood-work shop, with tools that had been used by his grandfather, and Blue Grass music; playing many musical instruments. He had two very special friends (father and son), Ralph and Larry Davidson, with whom he and his late wife played the game, "Greedy", every Saturday night for about fifteen years. Another dear friend was Mach Absher, with whom they enjoyed music, even once going to Nashville, Tenn. to play at the local establishments. Mr. Nutt was predeceased by his wife, Sarah Lane, on Jan. 9, 2008; his parents; several aunts and uncles; and a grandson. Mr. Nutt is survived by four daughters, his caretakers, Wanda Kazlauskas and her husband Chuck of Camden, Del., Beth Capparella of Reading, Pa., Peggy Easter of Sandtown, Md. and Donna Nutt of Utah; a host of grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his step-daughter, Brenda Gail Weitzel of Panasis, Texas; and a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and William Moor of Dover, Del.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013 at Templeville Cemetery, Templeville, MD. Arrangements entrusted to Bennie Smith Funeral Home.
