DOVER - Devoted and faithful husband of Colleen Rose Martin; one and only brother of Lois Rae Martin; dedicated husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather, pastor, and friend, following a lengthy illness, surrounded by loving family members, Allen went to join his Heavenly Father free from the confines of his earthly body, to live his eternal life with the Father in glorious peace in His Kingdom of Glory forever and ever! Allen was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Kobel Martin; and father, Arthur Allen Martin. Allen was born on April 24, 1932 in Trentum / New Kensington, Pa. Allen married his Sweetheart Colleen Rose Moran on Oct. 24, 1953, in Uniontown, Pa. They were virtually inseparable and very much in love. On Oct. 24, 2013, Allen and Colleen celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary. In Sept. 1951, Allen entered the United States Air Force. His military career included much travel and Martin saw service in Viet Nam, Korea, Okinawa, the Philippines, France, Taiwan and Hawaii. At the time of his retirement in Jan. 1972, Allen was stationed at Dover Air Force Base, Dover. He was an airplane technician, holding the rank of Tech Sergeant. Allen was declared 100% service connected disabled as a result of being exposed to Agent Orange. Rev. Martin earned many commendations and awards during his 20 years of military service. Some of Allen's interests included, keeping up on the latest news, firearms, baseball, trains, and motorcycles. He built and rode Indians and Harley Davidsons, and even had a 12:1 compression ratio on one of his Harleys! Allen and Colleen owned and operated Martin's Pet Motel on Wheel of Fortune road, Dover, for 25 years. One unique guest of the Pet Motel was a lion cub! They also bred award-winning Bishon Frises. Allen was an ordained Minister, with a Doctorate of Divinity degree. Rev. Martin spent his time in the service ministering to people for our Lord, Jesus Christ. Rev. Martin was Pastor at the Kingdom of God Fellowship Church in Hartly. Rev. Martin also served as Associate Pastor and Principal of the Victory Chapel School in Dover. Allen served as a member of the 28th District Republican Committee, was a member of the VFW. In addition to Colleen Martin, Rev. Martin leaves behind son, Allen Walter Martin, II, and wife, Rebecca; son, Pastor Kenneth Charles Martin and wife, Diane; son, Gerald Lee Martin and Alicia Martin; daughter, Sharon Rose Frock and husband, Scott; son, Michael Allen Martin and wife, Chelsea; son, Mark Andrew Martin who are all from the Dover area; Allen Martin is survived by grandchildren, Allen W. Martin III (Trey), Shekinah, Josh, Adam, Rachel, Leah, Crystal Kopelen and husband, Josh, Steve, Lisa and husband, Bryan, Crystal, Amber, Petra, Joe, Riley, Anna, Heather, Alyssa, Mark, Jr., Nicholas; and great-grandchildren, Cody, Morgan, Keeley, Angel, Brylee, Benjamin, Brad, Bree; Additional family members include, nephew, Richard Moran, Morgantown W. Va., nephew, Donald Cameron Hare, South Carolina; niece, Kathy Brown and husband, Rick of Baltimore, Md; nieces, Kathleen Rae Sturkie and Donell Kathleen Allen of South Carolina, niece, Anna Reynolds of Hollywood Hills, Fla.; great-niece, Jennifer Rae Sturkie and great-great-niece, Alyssa Rae Sturkie, both of South Carolina; great-nieces, Julie and Sherry Barfield of Tampa, Fla. The family would like to thank all the Doctors, Nurses and caregivers that attended to Allen during his illness. All will remember Allen by his dry sense of humor and his quick wit that (kept all of us on our toes) or (both delighted us and frustrated us at the same time). A memorial service will be held at a later date.
