GEORGETOWN - Donald B. Brittingham went home to be with his Lord on July 7, 2018, while surrounded by his family. Mr. Brittingham was the son of the late Bonard and Helen (Reed) Brittingham.
Mr. Brittingham was a lifetime farmer in Sussex County. He enjoyed his Sunday trips to Arby's and riding around looking at the crops and car dealerships. Family birthdays and holidays were his favorite times of the year since he loved his family and the cooking by his wife, Thelma. He was proud to watch his granddaughter, Shelby, attend college and nursing school, and watch his grandson, Cody, take care of the farm.
Mr. Brittingham learned his farming and business skills from his father, and he passed those skills onto his grandson so he can continue the business. He was a lifetime member of Carey's United Methodist Church of Millsboro, and a past member of the Carey's Camp Committee. He enjoyed sitting in his recliner by the door to watch the cars drive by and the hummingbirds drink from their feeder. He would also watch Merrill's field across the road and tell Cody what needed to be done in the field. He often talked about the good times he had about the hot-rodding days he had with his brother-in-law, Harry Moore.
Mr. Brittingham is survived by his wife of 53 years, Thelma (Bunting) Brittingham; a daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Steve West; two grandchildren, Cody and Shelby West; a son, Donald B.; and granddaughter, Erica.
