FELTON - Donald R. Minner of Felton, passed away Friday, May 18, 2012 he was 64. Son of the late Lester R. Minner Sr. and Dorothy Minner. Donald Minner worked in the Delaware state highway department. He started work as a highway inspector and retired as a highway supervisor of inspectors in 2000. He worked for another ten years with a private consulting firm after retiring from the state. Mr. Minner served in the Air Force for 26 years. He served four years active duty including a tour in Vietnam as a member of the 512th Security Police. Mr. Minner continued to serve 22 years as a reservist. During his time he helped to start the civil engineer squadron in 1982 at Dover Air Force Base. Mr. Minner was an active member of St. Bernadette's church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Parrish Council, head usher, and Eucharistic Minister to the sick. He was also a member of the American Legion. Mr. Minner enjoyed golfing with his buddies and riding in the truck by himself or with his buddy Norm. He was a very outgoing individual who loved to talk and tease. He was very generous and always there to help you. His sense of humor would leave you laughing for hours. Mr. Minner always would stop to help anyone who was broken down on the side of the road. He was God's road angel and would often ride just to see if he could help someone. He was a very hard worker and never asked anyone to do anything he wouldn't do himself. Mr. Minner was a very loving husband, father, and pop-pop. His family was his pride and joy which he showed by loving them dearly. He always took his wife home to Massachusetts whenever she wanted to go. The past few years he would travel to Massachusetts so Jeanette could help take care of her Mom. He will be dearly missed by all those who came into contact with him. Preceded in death by his parents, Lester R. Minner Sr. and Dorothy Minner. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Jeanette Minner of Felton; daughters, Christine Minner of Harrington and Dawn Bradley and husband Roger of Greenwood; brother, Lester Minner Jr.; sisters, Elizabeth Butler of Harrington and Ruth Morris of Felton; and grandchildren, Caleb and Karsyn Bradley. Service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2012 in St. Bernadette's Catholic Church, Harrington. Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Interment in Hollywood Cemetery.
