MILFORD - Doris E. Hitchens passed away on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012 at Christiana Medical Center in Christiana. Doris was born in Milford, the daughter of the late William H. and Sophronia (Warrington) Plummer. She was a business clerk at Bayhealth Medical Center at the Harrington Outpatient Office. She enjoyed yard sales and going to the slots and music and listening to records. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, John Plummer, Sam Chandler; and sister, Anna Mae King. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, John R. Hitchens; five children, Karen Miller and husband Lowell of Ellendale, Esther West of Milford, John Argo, Jr. and wife Connie of Ellendale, William E. Argo of Milford and Susan Argo and her companion, Ron Hopkins of Dover; two brothers, Charles Plummer of Ellendale and Virgil Plummer of Georgetown, 10 grandchildren, Tom Smith, Jayme Berry, Steven , J.R. and Neil Argo, George, Breanna and Hope Bechin, Casey and Joyce Wilkins, great-grandchildren, Trent, Bryce and Gracey Smith, Madison and Thomas Berry, and Johnna Argo, and four great-grandchildren living in Fla. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012 in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, where friends may call Wednesday night from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from noon to 1 p.m. Interment will be in Ellendale Cemetery.
