MILFORD - Dorothy A. Leyanna passed away Monday, April 1, 2013 at home. Dorothy was born in Milford, daughter of the late James and Winifred (Walls) Passwaters. She was a homemaker and enjoyed playing cards and doing crossword puzzles. She also owned and operated Leyanna's Store for 10 years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard W. Leyanna; a granddaughter, Erica; and her beloved siblings, Jim Passwaters and Ida Mae Leyanna. She is survived by four children, Debbie and Richard Anderson, Leonard P. and Teresa Leyanna, Judy and William Stratton and Karen and Michael Elzey; a grandson who was like a son to her, Michael J. Richards; son-in-law, Michael Richards, Sr.; siblings, Larry B. Passwaters, Juanita Stratton and Barbara Starkey, all of Milford; special brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Libby Leyanna; 12 grandchildren, Lenny, Joey, Kyle and Tara Leyanna, Matt, Jon, Brooke and Andrew Stratton, Michelle Atkins, Kari Elzey and Jennifer Anderson; and 14 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2013 in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front Street, Milford, with visitation after 11 a.m. Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery. The family would like to send a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Delaware Hospice for their care of and concern for the family of Dorothy.
