DOVER - James R. Sciple, Jr. died Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, in his home. Mr. Sciple was born in Charleston, S.C. to the late James R. Sciple, Sr. and Ruth Lundy Sciple. Mr. Sciple, a Vietnam veteran, served eight years in the U.S. Air Force. He earned his bachelor's degree from Wesley College in 1990, and was employed by International Playtex for 34 years as a product manager, retiring in 2004. Mr. Sciple was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and deeply loved God, family, friends, and his country. He was an avid golfer and a dedicated Philadelphia Eagles fan. Mr. Sciple was extremely proud of his children and all of their accomplishments. He also loved his grandchildren and enjoyed attending their piano recitals and taking them to the beach at Cape Henlopen. Mr. Sciple is survived by his wife of 45 years, Joan Sutcliffe Sciple; son, James F. Sciple (Jennifer) of Reading, Pa; daughter, Judith A. Sciple of Georgetown; brother, Tony Sciple (Geri) of Parkland, Fla.; two sisters, Bonnie Sturgis (Edwin) of Lynn Haven, Fla. and Ruth Ann Abercrombie (Donnie) of Lexington, S.C.; he is also survived by two grandchildren, James R. and Jocelyn Sciple of Reading, Pa. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at Church of the Holy Cross, 630 S. State Street, Dover, DE., 19901. Visitation is one hour prior at the church. Interment will be at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, DE. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to either Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Hwy, Dover, DE 19901 or AstraZeneca of the of Philadelphia, 110 W. Laurel Ave., Cheltenham, PA., 19012.
