CAMDEN - Jean Elizabeth Jordan, former school nurse, died Tuesday Sept. 18, 2012 of natural causes at the Delaware Veterans Home, Milford. Born in Chambersburg, Pa, the former Jean Elizabeth Lay was the daughter of Wilmer and Mary Lay was a 1944 graduate of the Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Jordan was in the Army Nurse Corps during WW II, while serving at Camp Pickett, Virginia, where she met and married her husband Archie R. Jordan. Thereafter they were stationed in Freising, Germany. The couple settled in Rehoboth Beach, and later Camden where she had been school nurse at The Carlton School and W. B. Simpson School. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed traveling with her family. She was a member of Wyoming Methodist Church and The Round Table Club of Wyoming. Her husband Dr. Archie R Jordan and son, Peter Lay Jordan predeceased her. She is survived by her son, Archie R. Jordan Jr. and wife, Cheryl, of Baltimore; and daughter, Barbara Jean Jordan of Stuart Fla. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday Sept. 24, 2012 at Odd fellows Cemetery, Camden.
