SMYRNA - Ladis John Gola of Smyrna, passed away on Friday, May 11, 2012, at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Del. Mr. Gola was born Oct. 13, 1941 in New York, New York, the son of the late John and Celia Gola. He served his country with honor in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Mr. Gola spent a substantial portion of his working career as a Machine Designer for the Johnson and Johnson companies. Ladis was a member of the DelRods Car Club, Historic Vintage Car Club of Delaware (HVCCD), Regional Plymouth Owners Car Club, and the Kent County Coin Club. He enjoyed showing his 1976 Duster and collecting coins. He was an avid gardener who took great joy in seeing his garden blossom. He also enjoyed woodworking and was a computer buff. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Joann A. Gola; a son, Guy John Gola, his wife Stacey and their two children, all of Norwalk, Conn.; two cousins, Charles Cebula of Frankfort, Ill., and Allen Cebula of Naperville, Ill.; and three sisters. A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, DE. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE. Condolence letters may be sent by visiting
