LAUREL - Robert Carter Blake formerly of Forestville, Md., passed away on June 4, 2013 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Del. Robert (Bob) was born in Fla. on March 27, 1925 to the late Milton Carter Blake and Maebelle Blake. After high school, Bob served in the United States Navy on Ship #191. Bob worked in the United States Federal Government printing office, where he retired. He later moved to Florida, where he worked at a local funeral home, and eventually owned his own limousine service. Bob was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Laurel, Del., where he was on the Board of Trustees, Head Usher, Sunday School Superintendent, and a volunteer for Vacation Bible School. Bob was a member of Hope Lodge #4, AF & AM Masonic Lodge in Laurel, for almost 50 years. He was looking forward to receiving his 50 year recognition in 2014. He was a past Read-A-Loud reader to many children and enjoyed this weekly for nearly 10 years. Bob was a member of the Laurel Exchange Club. Most recently, Bob was active with the Greenwood Cheer Dinner Club and attended Powerhouse Gym in Seaford, Del. Bob is survived by his wife Ann Blake of 13 years. Ann and Bob shared many happy times traveling and spending time with family. She was the love of his life. Bob is also survived by the following. Previous marriage son, Robert Milton Blake and wife Beverly of Va., daughter Linda D'Anjou and husband Paul of Fla.; grandchildren Robert and Julie Blake and Elizabeth D'Anjou; great grandchildren, Branch and Carter Blake. By marriage to Ann, he is survived by a daughter-in-law Holly Marvel and husband Butch of Georgetown, son-in-law Mark Skidmore and wife Renee of Georgetown; grandchildren Shannon, Kelsey, and Michael Marvel, and Mark and Matthew Skidmore. Bob will be dearly missed by all family members. A memorial service will be held at Christ United Methodist Church 510 South Central Avenue on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 1 p.m. A visitation will be held at the church from 12:30 to 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob's memory to Delaware Hospice 100 Patriots Way Milford, Delaware 19963.
