Townsend, 86 MILFORD - Thomas Luther Townsend passed away Wed., Mar. 20, 2013 at the Milford Hospice Center. Mr. Townsend was born Feb. 3, 1927 in Dover, Del. to the late Luther C. Townsend and Geneva Larimore Townsend. He served for 10 years in the United States Navy during WWII. After the service he worked for I.L.C. as a model maker during the Apollo era making helmets retiring after 30 years and continued consulting into the 1990's. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, model planes and trains. Mr. Townsend was a member of the Latter Day Saints and the R.C. Club in Willow Grove. Mr. Townsend is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janet Elizabeth Smith Townsend of Milford; daughters, Shelly Holstedler and her husband Rick of Lincoln, Del., Dana Townsend of Camp Springs, Md., Stephanie Bradley and her husband Michael of Milford, Del.; Thomasa Evins of Wyoming, Del.; sisters, Edith Townsend, Geneva Wambold both of Sandtown, Del., Janet Parker and her husband Johnny of Winder, Ga. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tues., Mar. 26, 2013, at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover, DE. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment will be at Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Delaware Veterans Home, 100 Delaware Veterans Blvd., Milford, DE 19963 or Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963. Very sorry to learn of your loss, Janet. I always enjoyed visits to your home and to see you both. Then to see Ginger and hear the beautiful birds sing. Please take good care of yourself.
