MILFORD - Don H. Lewis passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Don was born in Wilmington on Oct. 24, 1931 to the late Roscoe and Madeline Lewis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Roscoe Martin Lewis, Jr., and his first wife of 40 years, Deborah Hammond Lewis. He graduated from P.S. DuPont High School Class of 1949, attended West Nottingham Academy 1950, and graduated from The College of Agriculture, University of Delaware in 1954. He was an active Sigma Nu for many years He retired from Shell Chemical Company at the age of 52. In his retirement, he was active with the Sigma Nu Fraternity, ESL Programs at Reformation Lutheran Church, and LuLu Ross Elementary School. He was also active in the Milford Community Pantry, and Avenue United Methodist Church. Don enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and abroad, particularly Mazatlan Mexico, where it gave him the chance to practice speaking Spanish, which he spoke fluently. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Don is survived by his wife of 10 years, Tita Lewis; his children, Linda and Roy Luoma of Fallbrook, California; Donna Lewis and James Wallace of Augusta, Georgia; Debbie Lewis and Mia Gail of Rancho Cucamonga, California; Steven Lewis of Ellicott City, Maryland; and Barbara and Paul Courtney of Columbia, Maryland. He enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren, Christopher and Jonathan Luoma, Kyle, Madeline, Sarah Courtney, and Caroline Wallace, and his great granddaughter, Izzabella Luoma who he loved very much. A service was held at the Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford, on Saturday, March 1, 2014. Interment followed at Grace Episcopal Church Cemetery in Wilmington. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Heart and Stroke Association, www.heart.org/donate or to the Milford Community Pantry, 20 N. Church St, Milford, DE, 19963.
