Wyoming - Gloria Jean Reid of Wyoming passed away Monday May 5, 2014 after a courageous 8 ½ year battle with Lung Cancer. She was born Gloria Jean Taylor on June 28, 1940 to Paul Revere and Eva Mae (Sampson) Taylor from Feasterville Pa. She was 73. Gloria was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Camden Wyoming Moose Lodge. She enjoyed traveling, playing the slots at Dover Downs, bingo, reading, crocheting and other various crafts. Her second home was Floral City, Florida, where she lived up until her illness. She had an infectious smile and loved her six children very much. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Archie Reid; her brother, Paul Taylor; and sisters, Doris Rebuck and Diane Wentworth. She is survived by her devoted boyfriend of 38 years, Edward Buckley; her children, Ronald (Linda) Burkett of Wilmington, Linda (Earl) Darling of Marydel, Pamela Burkett of Wyoming, Sandra Brodeur of Marydel, Cynthia Crate of Marydel, and Samuel (Patti) Reid of Dover; eleven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Her dog Sadie & her 4 legged grandchildren, Mollie, Dollie & Stormy. In addition she is survived by her sister, Shirley Kenderdine of South Hampton, Pa.; her brother, Charles Taylor of Hartley; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Wednesday, May 14, 2014 , in Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave. Wyoming, DE; where family and friends may gather from 3 to 4 p.m. A reception to follow at her daughter's home in Marydel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Military Widows Fund; send check to "SMW National Treasurer", Society of Military Widows, National Treasure, 4374 Via San Jose, Riverside, CA 92504-2449
