ELLENDALE - Rowland Washington Moore, Sr., 84, of Ellendale went home to be with the Lord surrounded by his loving family on Friday, May 23, 2014. He was welcomed into Heaven and joyfully reunited with his wife, Grace, and his daughter, Betty. Rowland was born August 11, 1929 in Georgetown, Delaware, the son of George T. and Ella Mae (Warrington) Moore. He was a self-employed drywall contractor for many years. Before retiring, he was employed by Superior Drywall. He and his wife had enjoyed traveling, camping and attending the yearly Eastern Shore Threshermans steam show in Federalsburg, Md. Rowland was an avid gardener, bird watcher and enjoyed building birdhouses and bird feeders. He enjoyed eating out at the local restaurants with his family. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather. Rowland was a man of great faith who truly loved the Lord Jesus. With such a kind and caring heart, he was a wonderful friend to many. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Grace, in 2005 and his youngest daughter, Betty, in 1977. He was also preceded in death by his four brothers and one sister. He is survived by his daughters, Alice B. Fox, of Ellendale, who shared his home, Phyllis A. Zitvogel and husband Ed, of Bridgeville; his son, Rowland W. Moore, Jr. and wife Roxann, of Ellendale, who all lovingly cared for him during his illness. He also left behind to cherish his memory, his grandchildren, Keith A. Moore, of Georgetown, Brian K. Moore, of Ellendale, both of whom he helped to raise, Edward Zitvogel II and wife Tonya, of Bridgeville, Rowland W. Moore III, of Lincoln, Aaron M. Moore, of Bear, Eric M. Moore and Ian M. Moore, both of Ellendale, and Kate E. Moore, of Las Cruces, New Mexico; five great grandchildren, Kara N. Moore, Brendan G. Moore, Casey E. Zitvogel, Allie D. Zitvogel and Jacob L. Zitvogel; four great great grandchildren, Aaliyah, Jazmin and Sincere Rowe and Ryann Perry; as well as several nieces, nephews and a very wonderful neighbor and friend Dorine Harmon. A viewing will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2014 at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford. Friends may also call 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2014 with services being held at 2 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery, Rt. 113, Milford.
