MILFORD - Joseph A. Stevenson, Sr. died Thursday, May 29, 2014 at the Milford Center. Mr. Stevenson was the son of the late Percy and Mabel Stevenson and was raised on a farm in Milton. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp Reserve. He worked as a self-employed carpenter for many years, ending his career at Slocomb Windows. He was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church, Milton. Joe loved his pet dog and cats. He also enjoyed hunting when he had the opportunity. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-daughter Lynette Miller, two brothers Reese and Robert Stevenson and two sisters Catherine Webb and Betty Lank. He is survived by his wife of 24 years Annette Stevenson; a daughter JoAllison Jester and her husband Terry, of Milford; two sons Brian Stevenson of Harrington, and Joseph A. Stevenson, Jr. and his wife Maria, of Sudlersville, Md.; step-son Stanton Miller, of North East, Md.; two step-daughters Deborah Ruff and her husband Joseph, of Townsend, and Elizabeth Bradley and her husband Brian, of Chadds Ford, Pa.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 2, at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford. Friends may also call on Tuesday, June 3, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Zion United Methodist Church, 26743 Broadkill Road, Milton where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Zion United Methodist Church, c/o 707 Atlantic Avenue, Milton, DE 19968.
