CLAYTON - Raymond F. Brown, Sr., "Brownie" of Clayton, passed away surrounded by his family at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, on Thursday, July 10, 2014. He was 69. Mr. Brown was born January 1, 1945 in Dover, DE the son of the late Victor and Ellender Brown. He served his country with honors in the U.S. Navy. Brownie retired after 37 years as a Union Iron Worker for Local #451 of Wilmington. He was a member of the Maryland Trappers Association and also owned Brown's Raw Furs. He was also a member of Retreads Motorcycle Club. Brownie was an avid hunter, trapper, farmer and enjoyed auction sales and racing micro-midgets in his earlier days. He also enjoyed his times with his family at the fire pit. In addition to his birth parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Helen Brown; three brothers, Jack Horsey and Jimmy and Howard Brown. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara E. Brown; his son, Raymond F. Brown, Jr. and his wife Michelle of Clayton; his daughter, Victoria A. Napolitano and her husband Stephen of Smyrna; granddaughter, Amber Attix and her husband Kevin of Clayton; and his grandson, Curtis B. Napolitano of Smyrna; four brothers, Victor and his wife Betty of Arkansas, Ernest and his wife Karen of Texas, Ronnie and his wife Shirley of California and Leroy and his life partner Stan of Clayton; his sister, Mary Dutton and her husband Roger of Clayton; and numerous nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2014 and again at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 14, 2014 in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St. in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday. Burial will be in Townsend Cemetery in Townsend.
