Essick, Sr., 83 Hartly - Harry Earle Essick, Sr. went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 8, 2014. Mr. Essick was born on August 25, 1930 in Wilmington, Del., the son of the late Ralph E. and Sarah E. (Jackson) Essick, Sr. Earle was a devoted and loving husband and father. He worked for 20 years at Electric Hose and Rubber, all the while being a farmer. He enjoyed and loved cooking, baking and spending lots of time with his family and having meals together. Earle also enjoyed going to sales and auctions and being a farmer for most of his life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, M. Louise Wallace-Essick; and daughter, Margaret L. Essick. He is survived by his children; son, Harry Essick, Jr. and his wife Karen of Clayton; son, Don Essick of Wyoming; daughter, Sarah Essick of Dover; five grandchildren, Harry, III, Jeff and Ben Essick, and Brent and Blair Bailey; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lillian (Peggy) M. Wallace of Middletown, Phyllis E. Wallace of Newark and Elizabeth E. Davis of Lindenberg, Pa.; and three brothers, Ralph E. and wife Gladys Essick of Wilmington, Joseph A. and wife Opal of W. Jefferson, NC and Walter R. and wife Beverly Essick of Townsend. A viewing will be held on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014 at 1 p.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St. in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 2pm. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery in Smyrna. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to be sent in memory of Earle Essick to Hartly Fire Company, PO Box 50, Hartly, DE 19953 or Delaware Hospice, 911 S.
