DOVER - Marie Haass Coffman, of Earlville, Md., formerly of Dover, passed away Thursday July 19, 2012 in Scotland. Mrs. Coffman was born July 28, 1942 in Quinwood, W.V., to the late Charles Albert Nutter and Esther Mae Nutter. She graduated in 1960 from Somersville High School. After moving to Dover in 1960, she had worked at Kirby & Holloway for 2 years. She then worked at KJ's Beauty Shop and earned her certificate in Cosmetology and then opened her own in-house shop. She took over the West Dover Butcher Shop in Dover and retired in 1998. Marie was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church, Cecilton Lions Club, and the Delaware Basket Club. She enjoyed basket making, painting, gardening, and loved to cook. One thing she loved to do was spend time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, R. Paul Haass in 1981; son, R. John Haass in 1981; her second husband, Mark L. Coffman, Jr. in 2010; and brother, Arlington Nutter. She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey D. Haass, Sr. of Dover, David B. Christman of Stuart, Fla; step-children, Lisa Lincoln of Dallas, Texas, Mileaha Madel of Christiana, Pa., Mark S. Coffman of Newark, and Charlene Massih of West Chester, Pa.; brothers, John Nutter of Georgia, David Nutter of Va., and Daniel Nutter of W.V.; sisters, Shelbie Masten of Quinwood, W.V., Kathy Starkey of Henderson Md., and Mary Jensen of W.V.; grandchildren, Jeffrey D. Haass, Jr., Jorden Paul Haass, Joseph M. Haass, Jared J. Haass, Kourtney Ratcliff, Rachel Madel, Matthew Madel, Lauren Bates, Jessica Bates, Alexandra Coffman, George Massih IV, Peter Massih, Abigail Massih, Brianna Christman-DiMeglio, Derek Christman, and Zachary Christman; great-grandchildren, Hailey DiMeglio, and Zain Christman. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 30, where friends may call during that time. Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Interment will be at Sharon Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1687 Crystal Beach Road, Earleville, MD 21919; Cecilton Lions Club, PO Box 404, Cecilton, MD 21913; or Delaware Basket Club, 77 Chatham Court, Dover, DE 19901.
