Rylander, 74 CAMDEN - James Elwood Rylander born April 3, 1938 to the late Rev. Frank A. and Rhada L. Rylander in Newsport News, Va. went home to be with the Lord, Dec. 27, 2012. James E. Rylander, affectionately known as Rye, was a native of Newsport News, Va. He was baptized at Lincoln Park Baptist Church, Hampton Va. James was educated in the public school system, and graduated from George Washington Carver High School. After graduation joined the United States Air Force, where he served for 21 years. He married Diana and had three children, Marcia, James A. and Kim who is deceased. James served as president of the Men's Chorus, Chaplain of the Men's Ministry, a member of the Everready Circle and was actively a member with the Tuesday Mid-day Prayer service at First Baptist Church of Manasses, Va. James is survived by his wife, Diana J. Rylander; son, James A. Rylander (Gloria); daughter, Marcia Cagle (James); three grandchildren, Jamar A. Cagle (Leandra), Jarrett Cagle, and Keith Edmonds; four great-grandchildren, Lilly Cagle, Adrian Cagle, Christian Cagle and Micah Cagle; his sister, Colethia "Pete" Holcomb (Frederick) of Hampton, Va; his brother, Pastor W. Randolph Rylander (Elaine) of Hampton, Va.; and host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Service will be 11 a.m Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may gather two hours earlier. Burial will follow in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica. Letters of condolences can be sent via www.pippinfuneralhome.com
