Washburn, 75 MAGNOLIA - Larry Wayne Washburn passed away Fri., Sept. 13, 2013 at Kent General Hospital. Mr. Washburn was born Jul. 4, 1938 in Leaksville, N.C. to the late Russell Willie Washburn and Lorene Rose Hankins Washburn. He had served in the United States Air Force for 21 years, retiring in 1977. During his military career he served 2 tours in Vietnam. In the late 70's after his retirement he was Chief of Police in Frederica as well as being a police officer for Camden/Wyoming. Mr. Washburn enjoyed camping, gardening and traveling. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Washburn. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Darleen Bowman Washburn; son, Daniel Wayne Washburn of Magnolia; daughters, Hope Leigh Washburn of Fla. and Holly Lynn Washburn of Magnolia; brother, Dale Washburn and his wife Barbara of Vinton, Va.; and grandchildren, Colton and Kennedy Washburn. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m., Wed., Sept. 18, 2013 at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701.
