DOVER - Corliss-Mae Benavage, age 90, of Dover, died November 11, 2013. Born in Burlington, Vt. she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Marjorie Kauffman Larson. Mrs. Benavage had served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WW-II and had later served in the Marine Corps Women's Reserve. While stationed in Springfield, Mass. she met and married the love of her life, Peter Benavage. The couple later moved to Alexandria, Va. where they resided until moving to Dover in 2007. Throughout the years Mrs. Benavage was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed music and art and had been a member of Saint James Methodist Church Choir in Alexandria, Va. In her quiet moments she enjoyed knitting. A kind and gentle woman, Mrs. Benavage will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Mrs. Benavage leaves her loving husband of 65 years, Peter Benavage, Sr. of Dover; and her son, Peter Benavage, Jr. of Alexandria, Va.; three grandchildren, Victoria Benavage, Emily Benavage, and Peter Benavage; and great grandson, Dwight. She is also survived by her special niece, Irene Sadusky, of Dover. Friends may call 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013 at the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St., Dover where a viewing will be held. A Graveside Committal Service will be conducted at Arlington National Cemetery pending scheduling.
