Iva Yoder

GREENWOOD - Iva Yoder, of Greenwood, died Friday, July 17, 2015 in the Country Rest Home, Greenwood. She was 100. Iva was born on March 19, 1915 in Springs, Pa., the daughter of the late Asa and Amanda Bender Schrock. She moved to Delaware at the age of 18 to find better employment, where she took care of the elderly in their homes. This is also where she met and married her husband, Clyde Yoder. She was a devoted mother and homemaker, and enjoyed gardening and her flowers. Later she enjoyed traveling, feeding the birds and going out to Smiths restaurant. She also worked at the Country Rest Home for 24 years retiring at the age of 76. Iva was a member of the Cannon Mennonite Church; now (Gateway Fellowship). She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde; son, Delbert; three sisters, Melda Opal, Saloma and Verda Schrock; and two brothers, Orval and Elvin Schrock. She is survived by her children, Melvin (Edith) of Ariz., Ronald (Linda), Arnold (June) and Naomi (Gene Willey) of Greenwood, Ruth Yoder of N.Y., Phillip of S.C., Dorcas Hartmann of Wash., Loretta McDonald of W.Va. and Rhoda (Tim Swartzentruber) of Ohio; 20 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A viewing will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, July 20, 2015 at Gateway Fellowship, 8110 Cannon Road, Bridgeville, DE 19933. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 21, 2015.
