John F. Bogaert

OKEECHOBEE - John F. Bogaert died at Raulerson Hospital on Wed., Nov. 14, 2012. He was born in Ghent, Belgium, and moved with his parents to New Jersey in 1950. John was a resident of Okeechobee for 12 years relocating from the Lauderdale area. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Buckhead Ridge, the Buckhead Ridge Moose Lodge #2417 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the AMVETS and the American Legion and a retired five year volunteer driver of the VA van transporting veterans to the VA Hospital. He enjoyed fishing and was a N.Y. Giants fan. He is survived by his wife of ten years, Pam Bogaert of Okeechobee; daughter, Deborah (Ed) Wanamaker of Lauderdale Lakes, Fla.; son, John W. Bogaert of Pompano, Fla.; three grandchildren, Christian, Kellie, and Michael; and his beloved Maltese dog, Maggie. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. at St.Theresa of the Child Jesus Church in Buckhead Ridge on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 12 p.m. Entombment will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, in Forest Lawn Cemetery North, 200 W. Copans Rd, Pompano Beach, Fla. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in John's memory to Hospice of Okeechobee, P.O. Box 1548, Okeechobee, FL 34973.
