Zolfo Springs - Bettye M. Hall passed away peacefully on Sept. 12, 2018 at Good Shepherd Hospice House in Sebring. She was born Dec. 12, 1934 to Jack A. James, Sr. and Elizabeth Collier James in Memphis, Tenn. Her father relocated the family to Stuart. Bettye was a trick rider in the Tail Twisters Rodeo Company founded by her father. She was also an artist. She attended Crewsville Bethel Baptist Church of Zolfo Springs. She loved her church family. Bettye dearly loved her horses Espirit, Doodle, and Dixie as well as her dog, Charlie.
Bettye was predeceased by her parents; brother, Jack A. James, Jr.; and former husband and father of her children, Gerald Matthews.
Bettye is survived by her children, Darlene Chandler (Wayne), Edie Corbo, Gill Matthews, Chad Matthews (Lynn); daughter-in-law, Karen Matthews; seven grandchildren, Shay, Jared, Joel, Cassandra, Blaine, Allyson, and Tara; and eleven great grandchildren, Shayla, Emilee, Arrie, Matti, Ellie, Hayden, Wyndem, Ridglee, Kolbie, Alice, and Lilly. A special thank you to her loving caregiver, Lynn Schaeffer Bass.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018 at Evergreen Cemetery officiated by Pastor Tom Heath of Crewsville Bethel Baptist Church of Zolfo Springs.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crewsville Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund, 8251 Crewsville Road, Zolfo Springs, FL 33890.
