Okeechobee - Bruce Wetherington was born Dec. 1, 1965 to C.R. and Doris Wetherington in Pahokee. Bruce was a resident of Pahokee where he worked as a city cop for three years before joining the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office where he served 27 years wearing badge #4095. He was also a firefighter for Palm Beach County.
Bruce met the love of his life, Hazel, in 1984; they married and spent 31 loving years together.
Bruce has been a resident of Okeechobee for 17 years. He enjoyed hunting with his friends and spending time with his family.
Bruce was preceded in death by his father, C.R. Wetherington; nephew, Kent Wetherington, II; and his fur baby, Peanut.
He is survived by his loving wife, Hazel; his fur babies, Apollo and Max; mother, Doris; brothers, Kent and Mark (Leslie); sister-in-law, Tammy (Ron); nieces, Ashley (Travis), and Melissa (Scott); nephew, Robert (Leighia); along with many other nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews; and many extended family and friends.
Bruce loved you all.
Visitation was 11 a.m. until services at 12 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Okeechobee. Committal was 2:30 p.m. at Port Mayaca Cemetery.
