Okeechobee - Dorothy "D" Jane Bailey, surrounded by her family, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 5, 2018. Dorothy was born Oct. 15, 1932 to John Eli and Hattie Mae Pope in Hapeville, Ga. She married Leo Bailey, Jr. on May 1, 1949, and they were married 61 years until Leo passed on Oct. 16, 2011.
Mrs. Bailey was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, spouse, and grandson, Cutter Pearce.
She is survived by her children, Vickie Teagle (Wayne), Sharon Ridpath (Greg), Gary Bailey, and Patricia Pearce (Mark Hunter); grandchildren, Austin Cole (Missy), Monique Clay (Tommy), Caleb Pearce, Tasha Toy (Wes), Chase Pearce (Kattie), Kevin Bailey, Kelly Bailey, Dina, Shannon, Eden, and Erin; her loving partner, Chris Antonopolous, whom she loved dearly and enjoyed traveling the world and gaming with for the past six years; seven great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was 11 a.m. until services at 12 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018 at Buxton & Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home. She was laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery following the funeral services.
