Okeechobee - Harold Benton Shofffeitt died March 18, 2018. He was born April 6, 1938. He served in the United States Army and the Florida National Guard. He worked for US Customs for 36 years.
He was a member of the Dade Masonic Lodge 14 and the Okeechobee Masonic Lodge 237. He was a life member of the American Legion 0028 and AMVETS 2001. He also held memberships with Shriners of Miami, Veterans of Foreign Wars 4423, Moose Lodge 1760, Eagles 4137, and Fraternal Order of the Police Palm Beach Lodge 19. He was a member of the Okeechobee Community Choir for five years, an annual contributor to the Okeechobee Community Theatre, and a member of the Okeechobee Yatchette Club.
He rode motorcycles for over 40 years, and loved his churches, his boats, his trucks, his pets, and playing and singing Gospel music with his friends. Most of all he loved his family. Even as Parkinson's disabled his body, he remained sweet and kind.
Mr. Shoffeitt is survived by his wife of 21 years, Marie Shoffeitt; daughter, Tanna; sons, Harold Shoffeitt, Jr. and Michael; and seven grandchildren, Brian, Maya, Kade, Jonathan, Christopher, Luke, and Matthew.
Masonic services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Buxton & Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held immediately following the service at Good Spirits.
