OKEECHOBEE - James Edward Lowe passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018 in Fort Pierce. He was born Oct. 2, 1950 in New Smyrna Beach to Oscar and Martha (Humphries) Lowe. He has been a resident of Okeechobee for 63 years, coming from New Smyrna.
In his younger years James enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. He also served as a volunteer fireman. He had a keen mind and had a passion for problems that could be solved with mathematics and engineering. When he was no longer able to take part in more physical activities James found entertainment in the Old West. Whether it was watching them on television or escaping in a good book, James loved his Westerns.
Over the past few years James had been in and out of hospitals due to his health. Instead of wallowing in pity he used his humor to bring cheer to others. He loved to joke, and kept the hospital staff and those around him laughing. He will be remembered for his loving, caring nature.
In his passing he is now reunited with his parents, and his brother, Buddy Lowe.
James is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Lynette Lowe; brother Clyde Lowe (Sherrie) of Okeechobee; sister, Martha Rae Scott of Okeechobee; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were held Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Oakview Baptist Church, 677 SW 32nd St., Okeechobee, FL 34974 with Pastor John Garner officiating.
