Okeechobee - James Elam Murphy died July 12, 2018. He was born in Arcadia on March 4, 1966, to Jack Nolan and Florence Ada (Tripp) Murphy, Sr. He relocated to Okeechobee with his family at the age of three. James served his country as a member of the United States Army.
He enjoyed reading, especially Stephen King and other authors of the horror fiction genre. James will be remembered for his humor and sarcastic wit.
James was preceded in death by his sisters, Glenda Brittelli and Judy Lashley.
He is survived by his parents, Jack and Florence Murphy, Sr. of Okeechobee; son, John (Krystal) Gore; daughters, Tiffany Murphy and Danielle Harmon, all of Okeechobee; brothers, Jack Murphy, Jr. of Citra, Fla., Ronnie Murphy of LaBelle, Joe Murphy of Okeechobee; sisters, Linda (John) Davis of LaBelle, Janice (Daniel) Elliot of Okeechobee; eleven grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Jimmy Lashley.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at 3 p.m. at the Buxton & Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home.
