Okeechobee – Marcus Maurice Robinson was called Home April 2, 2018. He was born Oct. 20, 1947 in Indianapolis, Ind. to the late Ellis Harrison and Margaret Avanell (Jones) Robinson. A resident of Okeechobee for 36 years, he was a Journeyman Electrician. Marcus's family was his greatest love and he did all he could to take care of them.
Marcus grew up in Mooresville, Ind. coming from a long line of Educators and Ministers. Marcus graduated from Mooresville High School in 1965 and then immediately after, met and married the love of his life, Viola Jane McDaniel. This love of 51 years grew into two sons, one daughter, twelve grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and counting. He is the Patriarch of a large and loving family guided always and forever by his grass roots wisdom and unwavering strength. He lived his life in service to others without expectations.
Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William and Elijah "Harold"; and sister, Ruth Ann Robinson.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Viola Robinson; sons, Jeff Robinson and Tracy Robinson; daughter, Wendy Madrigal (Moe), all of Okeechobee; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; brother, Joe Robinson (Renee), of Columbus, Ga.; sister, Yvonne Meyers (Art), of Corydon, Ind.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Join us in a celebration of Marcus's life Friday, April 6, 2018 beginning at 11 a.m. until services at 1 p.m. at Buxton & Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home. Interment will follow immediately after at Evergreen Cemetery.
