OKEECHOBEE - Mary Lou Wood died March 8, 2018. She was born January 1, 1942 in Topeka, Kan. to Edwin Edgar and Mittie Katherine (Deal) Newell. A seasonal resident of Okeechobee for eight years, she attended Peace Lutheran Church in Okeechobee. She traveled the country with her husband truck driving and also enjoyed crocheting.
Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her infant sister, Patricia Sue.
She is survived by her husband of twelve years, Lowell "Butch" Wood, of Okeechobee and Washburn; children, Eddie Davis (Minnie), of Minot, N.D., Stacie Rebel (Doug), of Mandan, N.D., John Davis (Robin), Carey Davis, and Mark Davis, all of Bismarck, N.D.; stepdaughters, Christine Olson (Larry), of Cooperstown, N.D. and Leah Jacot (Doug), of Vista, Calif.; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sisters, Peggy Kampsen (Ray), of Vassar, Kan. and Okeechobee, and Billie Rae Duffie (Terry), of Maumelle, Ark.; and her extended family of friends from Zachary Taylor RV Resort and Peace Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Monday, March 12, 2018 at Buxton & Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home with Pastor John Hirst officiating.
