Okeechobee – Patricia Ann Jackson passed into eternity on June 9, 2018. Patricia was born on July 10, 1939 in Bronx, N.Y. to George and Betty Born.
Better known as Pat, PJ, or Granny Pat to most who knew her, Patricia was a resident of Okeechobee for over 30 years, moving here from Palm Beach County, and was a member of Everglades Baptist Church. Pat worked in the food service industry for much of her life, but spent the last 20 plus years working or volunteering with children at the EOC Headstart Lake Side and being a foster grandparent. Pat loved Life. More than anything, she enjoyed playing canasta with her husband and best friends Ruby and Richard. She also loved helping and teaching her Headstart children, going to church, her dog Rufus, and watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; her best friends, Ruby and Richard Payne; her son-in-law, Frank Prescott; and her husband of 44 years, Durward.
Pat is survived by her children, Thomas (Diana) Cavanaugh of Elverta, Cailf., Darlene Bohannon of Nashville, Tenn., Bobi Jo (Roy) Northcut of Hopkins, S.C., Al (Coreen) Cole of Okeechobee, Angelina (Sam) Pressing of East Otto, N.Y., Mary Prescott of Okeechobee, Durward (Tina) Jackson of Okeechobee; six stepchildren, Donna, Ricky, David, Eddie Wayne, James Robert, and Tony; over 40 grandchildren; over 25 great grandchildren; and many loving friends – too numerous to count.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 18387 HWY 441 N., Okeechobee, FL 34972, with Pastors Doug Nickalson and Eric Phillips of Everglades Baptist Church officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Okeechobee, PO Box 1548, Okeechobee, FL 34973.
