OKEECHOBEE - Marcus "Leroy" Briney passed away Jan. 20, 2013 in Okeechobee. He was born Sept. 18, 1926 in Akron, Ohio and came to Okeechobee in 1957. Mr. Briney proudly served our country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the American Legion. He owned Leroy's Used Cars and then served as a Veteran's Services Officer in Okeechobee. Mr. Briney was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Beatrice Briney; and daughter, Carol Walker. He is survived by his son, Steve Briney (Kathy); son-in-law, Fred Walker; grandchildren, Todd Briney, Jennifer Cleary all of Okeechobee, Ben Walker (Shannon) of Gainesville, Eric Walker of Newberry; and great grandchildren, Kyle Walker of Gainesville and Eli Briney of Okeechobee. A gathering for family and friends will be held 2 p.m. until services at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2013 at the Buxton Chapel, 110 NE 5th Street, Okeechobee, Florida.
