CRISFIELD - Robert Charles Carey, of St. Augustine, Fla., passed away peacefully on Monday, May 20, 2013 at his daughter's home in St. Augustine after a long illness. He was born the son of Evelyn Winstead Carey and Joseph Raymond Carey in Baltimore, Maryland on Feb. 27, 1934. He resided many years in Crisfield, Md. and Pocomoke, Md. He and his wife moved back to Baltimore where he retired from General Motors Company. They moved to St. Augustine in 1996 and made a new home there with their daughter. Robert, better known as "Bobby", enjoyed every minute of his life; he loved baseball and football. He will always be remembered for his quotes and whistling his favorite tunes. He is survived by his daughter, Donna Jean Carey Poineau and her husband, Timothy Michael Poineau; a grandson, Derek Robert Poineau of St. Augustine; a brother, Tyrone Carey of Baltimore; and a sister-in-law Gloria Howard of Salisbury, Md. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Francis Carey in 2006; three children, Robert Charles Carey Jr., Joseph Tyrone Carey, and Bonnie Lynn Carey; and a grandson, Scott Edward Poineau. A funeral service was held on Friday, May 24, 2013 at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield. The Rev. Olivia Costango officiated. A graveside service was held on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Holly Hill Memorial Gardens on Bird River Road in Baltimore where he was laid to rest with his wife and three children.
