LINKWOOD- James Wesley Pinder passed away Sat., Apr. 20, 2013 at Mallard Bay Nursing Home in Cambridge, Md., after a lengthy illness. Born Nov. 21, 1920, in Bucktown, Md., he was the son of the late Carl Sr. and Agie Pinder. He received his early education in the public schools of Dorchester County, Md. and he graduated from F.D. St. Clair High School in the Class of 1938. James enlisted in the Army in February 1943, and was discharged in March 1946. James was married to the late Selena Hollis, on Jul. 15, 1945 in New York City and they made their home in Linkwood, Md. James was self employed as a Truck Driver for many years. He was employed with National Can and later in life with Granville Hooper and Pep-Up until his retirement. James was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, in Cambridge, Md. He was the president of Usher Board for many years, also a member of the Trustee Board. He was a member of Pride of Cambridge Lodge #50 and Luther Jackson Chapter #22 Royal Arch Masons. In addition to his parents, three brothers preceded him in death, Roscoe Pinder, Luther (Jake) Hollis and Carl Pinder, Jr.; one sister, Mary Frances Tilghman; three nephews, Rodney Henry, Russell Pinder Sr. and Samuel Jones; one niece, Alisha Nichols; and one sister in-law, Mary Hollis. He leaves to cherish a sister, Mildred Pinder Jones (Linkwood, Md.); one aunt, Celia Cornish (Aireys, Md.); sister in-law, Ruby Pinder (Linkwood, Md.); host of nieces and nephews, Alice (Emmanuel) Anderson (Cambridge, Md.), Carolyn (Dwight) Grant (Temple Hills, Md.), Rosalyn Matthews (Baltimore, Md.), Ramona Butler (North Carolina), Alvin Jones, Frederick Jones Sr. and James Tilghman Jr. (all of Cambridge, Md.) and Paul Young (Baltimore, Md.); a great number of great nieces, great nephews, cousins, a special friend, Donald Pinder and other friends. In the summer, you would always see him sitting under his tree talking to his friends whenever they stopped by. Services will be held on Sat., Apr. 27, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Bethel AME Church Cambridge with a viewing Fri. evening 6 to 8 p.m. with Masonic services beginning at 7 p.m. and one hour prior to services.
