LOUGAL, PETER J. Peter J. Lougal, 68, of East Haven passed away on October 9, 2013 in the St. Raphael Campus of Yale New Haven Hospital. Peter was a son, a father, a grandfather, a great grandfather and the beloved husband to Jan Alea Lougal. Peter was predeceased by his father John, he was father to Steven Lougal of East Haven, Scott Lougal and wife Tricia of Branford, and Tamara Speer and husband Stanley of East Haven. The grandfather of Michael Speer, Lyndsey, Tabitha, Alexandria, Ainsley, Mason and Fischer Lougal. The great grandfather of Marlena, the nephew of Viola Lougal of East Haven and the loving uncle of Greg Giltner. The most important thing to him was the love and respect of his family. Peter was a US Navy veteran during the Vietnam War. Peter worked as a pipe fitter/insulator for Local 33 until his retirement. Upon his retirement from Local 33 he worked as a security guard for the East Haven High School touching the lives of many students with his unique sense of humor, and his unparalleled witty, nature. He was an exuberant storyteller, a once in a lifetime chronicler and known for his entertaining tales around a dinner table. It didn't matter if you have known Peter for two minutes, two hours or twenty years, those who have had the opportunity to have a conversation with this charismatic gentleman will remember him for ages and he will live on through everyone sharing his stories. Peter was the former chairman of the Town of East Haven Republican Town Committee, former chairman of the Town of East Haven Police Commission and former chairman of the Town of East Haven Civil Service Commission. Of all the aspects of friendship, Peter valued loyalty as the most important. As anyone who had the privilege to call him FRIEND, experienced that in return and felt it immensely; he was a life long brother. For Peter, creating the strong family structure would be his ultimate legacy to leave behind. He loved, adored and cherished his family. Peter was an avid sports fan rooting for the Boston Red Sox and NY Giants. His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte 80) East Haven Monday morning at 10:45. I send my sincere sympathy on the passing of your loved on Peter. I lived near Peter and went to school with him. He was a kind and gentle soul but made us all laugh a lot. He was real fun to be with and made you enjoy the moment.

Prayers and God be with you and yours at this time. I just heard and was shocked.
I remember the "Atlantis" days and the fun we used to have.
Take care of yourself as you have others who depend on you.

Jan: We are so saddened by Peter's passing. You and Peter have been part of my family for a long time. I am still in dis-belief. Words cannot describe the sadness that we feel and at the same time the greatfulness that we had a chance to know Peter. I'm sure he is with Rae, fixing something for her. God bless you and your family..
