Figueroa, Manuel O. Manuel "Manny" Oscar Figueroa, 64 of 87 Clinton Avenue, New Haven died Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Yale-New Haven Hospital after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Carmen Alvelo. Manuel was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on January 5, 1948, a son of Milagros Torres Montes of New Haven and Manuel Oscar Figueroa of Ponce, and was a lifelong New Haven resident. He was a meter technician for the Regional Water Authority, New Haven for forty years retiring in 2010 due to his health. Manuel played softball for Los Leones de Ponce of the Spanish Softball League of New Haven, was an avid N.Y. Yankees fan, and a proud U.S. Air Force Vietnam Veteran. In addition to his parents, Manuel is survived by his step father Angel Montes of New Haven, a daughter Malisa (Aneudy) Ortiz of New Haven, a son Jose O. Figueroa of Derby, a sister, Viviana Figueroa, and two brothers, Harry and Richard Figueroa, all of Puerto Rico, and seven grandchildren. Manuel's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. His funeral procession will leave from the funeral home on Wednesday at 8:45 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anthony Church, 70 Washington Ave., New Haven.
