DEROSE, JOHN John DeRose of New Haven died June 20, 2013 at the Mary Wade Home. He was the husband of the late Josephine Zimbardi DeRose. Loving father of Suzanne (Joseph) Anastasio and the late Peter John DeRose. Brother of the late Vincenzia Martin and Anthony DeRose. Loving grandfather of Laurie Anastasio, Robin Toni, Angela, Elizabeth and Sara DeRose. Great grandfather of Michael Juliano, Joseph Palmer, Josephine and Caroline Toni, Adam Lerner, Rose, Luke and Grace Fischer and Eliot Sample. John was born in New Haven January 1, 1919 to the late Peter and Asunta Lombardi DeRose. He served his country with honor in the US Navy during WWII and after being honorably discharged he joined his father in operating DeRose's Market which started on East St. and Grand Ave. in New Haven before moving to State Street. He operated the business for more than 80 years. John was a member of the Hamden Italian-American Club. Relatives and friends may call Saturday morning from 8:30-9:30 at the IOVANNE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 11 Wooster Pl., and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael's Church at 10. Burial with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Franciscan Home Care and Hospice Care, 267 Finch Ave., Meriden, CT 06451.
