EDWARD BRAUMANN

BRAUMANN, EDWARD RUHLING Edward Ruhling Braumann, age 81, formerly of Guilford CT, passed away on June 19, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving children and his wife. Edward was born in New York, NY on December 11, 1932, son of the late Kati Kielmeyer and Ewald Otto Braumann and husband of the late Natalie Knowles Braumann. Upon his graduation from Edison Vocational & Tech High School in Mount Vernon, NY, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was awarded a position as Aviation Cadet. Edward proudly served 20 years as an Air Force Pilot, serving in Vietnam and Thailand. His dedicated service earned him the Bronze Star, three Air Medal Awards and other accolades, and the rank of Major and Squadron Commander of the 310 ARS. Upon retirement from the Air Force in 1972, he returned to Guilford, CT, where he joined McDonald Knowles Realty as partner, and later owner, and was an active member of the Lion’s Club and Rotary. Edward and Katherine retired and moved to DeForest, WI to enjoy hunting, fishing and traveling. He is survived by his children Edward Donald of Madison, CT, Annalisa of Deep River, CT, Lurene Kay of Niantic, CT, Robert Heinz of Guilford, CT, and Andrew Mitchell of Ashburn, VA; his wife Katherine and his step-children William Humbert of Bozrah, CT, and Christina Mullaney of Warwick, RI. He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at 1st Congregational Church on the Green in Guilford, CT August 2, 2014, 11:00 am.
