Gregory L. McCoy

McCOY, GREGORY L. Gregory L. McCoy, 85, of Guilford, died peacefully at home Monday morning. He was the son of the late David J. and Anna F. McCoy of New Haven. Mr. McCoy, a decorated WWII veteran, served as a B25 tail gunner with the Army Air Corp in the South Pacific. He was one of the founders of the New Haven Nighthawks AHL Hockey team and as an avid fan and booster, Mr. McCoy was a fixture at Guilford and Hamden youth sports events. His life will be celebrated by all who had the privilege to know him, but especially by his four daughters and their husbands, Dana and Randy Adams of Hamden, Liz McCoy and Donnie Mathis, of Hamden, Linda and Tom Wolfe of Branford, and Ginny McCoy and Dave Brandolini of Cheshire, his sister Alicia Clapp of North Haven, his brother David McCoy of Lyme, his loving grandchildren, their grandmother Margaret 'Peg' McCoy of North Haven and his extended family at the Stone House in Guilford. He will be missed by a vast community of good friends in and around Guilford. He is also survived by his son Greg and his family of Wallingford. Informal calling hours and a toast to his life will be held at The Stone House Restaurant (506 Whitfield Street, Guilford) on Sunday December 19th, 2- 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to The Guilford Food Bank or the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. Attaboy Greg!
