James William Bruno

BRUNO, JAMES W. James William Bruno, age 62, of Branford passed away suddenly on June 16, 2013. Jim was born in New Haven on March 4, 1951 to the late John and Ann (Zavadski) Bruno. He attended Branford schools and Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He and his late brother John owned a construction and renovation business in Boston. He then went on to work for SNET (AT&T) Yellow Pages Industrial Sales for nearly twenty years before retiring. Jim was an active volunteer firefighter and EMT, as well as a member of the New Haven Sportsman's Club and an NRA Safety Instructor. He was a long-time member of the Branford RTM and served as moderator. He was a licensed private pilot, cook, and mechanic, as well as a photographer for the Branford Review. Jim was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary Church where he served as a lector, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, president of the Parish Council, and as a volunteer at St. Mary School where he served as Home and School Association president and was awarded the HOPES Award and Christian Leadership Award for outstanding efforts for the school. He is survived by his wife, Margaret (True) and daughters, Kathleen and Elizabeth, a brother Stanley (Loretta) of Pennsylvania, several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and a host of close friends. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford on Friday, June 21 from 4-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Church, 731 Main Street, Branford on Saturday, June 22 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery.
